Igor Koruga (SER) is a freelance artist working within contemporary dance and choreography. He studied Anthropology and ethnology at University of Belgrade and Solo/Dance/Authorship at University of Arts in Berlin. He is engaged in appliance of choreography as a tool for interpreting socio-cultural phenomena, ideologies, and various sociopolitical and aesthetic aspects conditioning current modes of art production and knowledge. His interests lie in using mediums of body and language in order to requestion the communication among artist, artwork and spectators within dispositif of theatre. Recent work in theatre includes performances Lounli Plenet (2020), Hopelessness (2017), Only Mine Alone (2016), Streamlined (2015), Expose (2013-2015), Temporaries (2011-2013) etc. Igor provides choreographic assistance to theatre directors in stage movement within institutional theatre plays. He also works as a dramaturge in dance performances. |
Igor partiipated in DAS THIRD cycle research program of Das Graduate school, Academy of dance and theatre - University of Arts Amsterdam.

He teaches choreography in Belgrade mostly independently, mentoring younger generations of artists through the Puzzle educational program at Station Service for contemporary dance. He was teaching as a professor at Institute for Dance in Belgrade (2015-2017).
Active member of STATION Service for contemporary (Belgrade). Engaged in a work of the regional dance network Nomad dance academy, mostly within programs of Nomad Dance Archiving and Nomad Dance Advocacy. A member of the Association of Ballet Dancers in Serbia. |

Igor was a recipient of several fellowships: Nomad Dance Academy, DanceWEB/ ImpulsTanz, Tanzstipendium der Regierende Bürgermeister Berlin, Senatskanzlei, Akademie Schloss Solitude.
In 2015 he was a recipient of a yearly award by National Organisation for Rare Diseases in Serbia (NORBS), for an outstanding contribution in improving the position of people with rare diseases in Serbia through his artistic work (Expose). Same year he won the 1st prize and critics award on XIX Festival of choreographic miniatures in Belgrade (Impasse). In 2016 he won an award at the 43rd International festival of alternative and new theatre (INFANT) for most original exploration of one of theatrical language segments (Only Mine Alone). |
